Sugar Black - "Souljah Story"

Reggae singer Sugar Black is the newest thing to hit the Reggae market. Coming from Westmoreland and Kingston Jamaica, he’s been compared to such artists as the late great Bob Marley and Freddy McGregor.

A great singer and lyricist, in high school Sugar Black recorded his first single, which went #2 on the British Reggae, and Caribbean Charts. His single "Oh Jah" was top ten on mp3.com for a year.

Biography

Reggae singer Sugar Black has roots the run deep in music. In 1979 his family moved from rural Westmoreland to Kingston where he found his love for music while attending school. Later Sugar Black won a competition at the Tasty Talent Contest, with his original song "Baby Mother Too Bad".

In 1994 while still attending high school he auditioned for pent house records where he recorded his first single "Stephanie" which was a smash hit reaching #2 on the British and Caribbean reggae charts. Which lead him to tour numerous countries in Europe.

In 1997 Sugar hooked up with a flames crew and recorded another great hit single "Oh Jah" with long time partner and friend, Lebanchulah. This took them on a tour through out the United States. Even after the tour the song "Oh Jah" still continued to receive attention on the reggae scene, the single also stayed with in a 1-10 ranking on mp3.com for almost a year.

In May 2001 sugar did a performance at the UCLA Reggae & Jazz Festival held in California. While in California he also preformed with Fully Fullwood band at the monthly club Vybz event in Long Beach. Sugar also performed alongside Mr. Vegas at the 6th Anniversary party for Jamaica Gold at the Century Club in Los Angeles.

Sugar has been known to work with artist such as Garnett Silk, Buju Banton, and is currently working Beres Hammond. This rising talent has completed his work on the Madacy/Henry K. Productions compilation reggae rock, a tribute to rock-n-roll featuring artist like Steel Pulse, Toots, & Maytals, Sugar Minott, and Big Mountain.

In 2003, Sugar preformed at the Philipines Trade Expo in the Los Angeles Convention Center to a crown of more than 30,000 people.

Currently Sugar Black is preparing to release his debut album "Souljah Story" in late 2004 on ADEX Records, and Issachar Muzik.
